All insignia present. Appropriate Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Toning will be evident- no Hallmark at rear. Piece tested positive for Silver .
This piece was commissioned for private production at the behest of Unit Commanders , of the formations that participated in the Operation in Angola. The Badge was unofficial- and was not permitted or sanctioned for wear by the SADF High Command.
Operation Hooper - occurred from 2 January 1988 - 25 February 1988 , as a follow-up to Moduler in late 1987. This offensive defined the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale - in which Cuban & FAPLA Forces located West of the Cuito River were attempting to secure the town of Cuito. The SADF entered the area , preventing FAPLA from moving South-East in their attempt to dislodge UNITA.
The battle ; resulted in SADF Units disabling 59 FAPLA motorized infantry Brigade , 21 & 25 FAPLA Light Infantry Brigade & several Cuban Support troops. The town remained uncaptured by both belligerents , and led to a FAPLA withdrawal.
The ideal addition to any SADF/ SWATF Border War Era Insignia collection or display- for the enthusiast seeking a unique period piece for their assortment.
