An EXCELLENT example of 1989 South African Defence Force - 32 Battalion Nutria 'Tupperware' Unit Flash Pair (Northern Cape Command).These pieces appear to be in a VF state of preservation , with detailed Graphic Design Relief on obverse for each item. All insignia/ symbology present. Appropriate Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surfaces. Items remain in a used , yet well-preserved state. Nutria Unit Shoulder flashes retain a good general appearance , with a degree of surface toning / variable discoloration due to material/s composition. Pieces display good structural integrity with substrate material & PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) Appliques, appearing all well integrated. All Decorative elements are clear and defined with the distinctive 32 Battalion Regimental Crest ; in conjunction with the Northern Cape Command sector insignia. Nomenclature is present and remains legible. NOTE : One Command Bar Affiliation applique has expired due to age & is no longer present, on one of the Nutria Flashes. Retention pins are evident on panel reverse (one pin has been deflected/distorted).

These pieces would have been issued to members of 32 Battalion , as part of their Nutria Fielddress uniform attire - in order to indicate Unit/ Regimental affiliation. The Unit was formed in 1975 - comprising largely of former FNLA soldiers , recruited during the collapse of Portuguese Colonial rule in Angola. This SADF Battalion were renown as Elite Light Infantry - capable of conducting Counter-Insurgency missions, Long-range Reconnaissance & Conventional Offensive operations.
The formation was relocated to South Africa in 1989 , and occupied a Military Base located at Pomfret in the Northern Cape- prior to disbandment in September 1993.
The ideal addition to any 1980s/1990s SADF 32 Battalion Unit Insignia collection or display- for the enthusiast seeking a unique period piece for their assortment.
