You are bidding on a Nelson Mandela LDDS MetroMedia PhonePass Phone Card. The card are in mint condition have not been used. The card have 30 minutes of domestic minutes on them, but they have an expiration date of 12/24/94( the year is was issued) These are very collectible as only 1100 of these cards were made. Catalogue Value of $125 per card according to CollectorMagic.

The card on auction is serial numbered: 1100.

These have always been difficult to find, and as
such have always been expensive - one of the
highest priced cards of LDDS.

LDDS originally stood for "Long Distance Discount
Service" and was formed in 1983 in Mississippi -
USA. It grew to one of the largest telecommunications
companies in the world and dropped the name LDDS
to just become "WorldCom" in the 1990's. (It was the
2nd largest telecom company in the USA - just behind
AT&T). Then it bought a bunch of smaller telecom
companies. In 2003 it merged with MCI, and in 2006
it was bought for $7.6 Billion USD by Verizon (symbol
VZ on the New York Stock Exchange). They all were
also merged with NYNEX, GTE and Bell Atlantic
(major phone companies in the USA). Now it has
over 235,000 employees and revenue of almost $100.
