THIS SYRUP WAS DEVELOPED AND PRODUCED BY JAMES FELLOWS, A DRUG MERCHANT IN ST. JOHN, CANADA IN THE 1860's AND WAS HERALDED AS AN EXCELLENT RECUPERATIVE TONIC FOR ALL SORTS OF AILMENTS AND BECAME WIDELY USED UNTIL THEY FOUND THAT THE "CURE" ACTUALLY CONTAINED STRYCHNINE, A POTENT POISON WHICH PROBABLY MADE PEOPLE EVEN SICKER. USE WAS DISCONTINUED AND THIS IS A RATHER RARE BOTTLE TO FIND, ESPECIALLY IN SOUTH AFRICA. BOTTLE IS 16.5CM TALL AND HAS NO CRACKS OR CHIPS. I FOUND IT WITH A GLASS STOPPER WHICH I HAVE INCLUDED BUT I THINK IT ORIGINALLY HAD A CORK STOPPER. REFER IMAGES
