This rare, unusual, large, steel bill hook knife, with a curved wooden handle, has a good weight to it and is in excellent condition for its age and dates to the early 1900's. I've been told it's either an early, large skinning knife or an early, large pruning knife. It is stamped, on the blade, 'G.R. JOSEPH RODGERS & SONS' 'CUTLERS TO HIS MAJESTY' '6 NORFOLK STREET SHEFFIELD ENGLAND' with the 'star' and 'Maltese Cross.' Joseph Rodgers is one of the oldest names in the cutlery industry. The trade mark was originally registered in 1682. The knife measures 30cm in total - the blade 15.5cm, the handle 14.5cm and it weighs 280g.
