Rare Antique 'Richard Ginori Majolica' Vase
This amazing, antique, urn shaped, hand-painted Italian ceramic vase from the early 1900's, possibly earlier, was produced by the famous 'Richard Ginori' factory in Italy. It has been beautifully painted in various colours in the Renaissance style, depicting a man and woman under a tree, with the man holding a wild boars head, with trees and mountains in the background. The ceramic vase has a lovely shape with two small scroll handles, and other than a tiny paint chip to the one handle, it's in excellent condition. The base has the painted 'crowned Ginori' mark, with a number '349-1856' and a few words in Italian, all in the blue underglaze. There's also an impressed letter or number on the base that I can't read. The vase stands 19cm high, with a diameter of 13,5cm at its widest (16cm with handles), and a base diameter of 7,2cm and it weighs 920g.
Note: 'Richard Ginori 1735' is still produced in the town where it was founded in 1735 outside Florence in Italy. Today, 'Richard Ginori' is the most famous Italian factory producing porcelain dinnerware. In 2013, the 'Gucci' company purchased 'Richard Ginori 1735'.
