RARE "BLACK STAR SAPPHIRE" & AFRICA MINED DIAMOND 9ct GOLD RING. JEWELLER CERTIFIED R18'098
Here's a gemstone you won't come across every day! The gemstone featured in this very solid piece of English jewellery is an authenticated black star sapphire. The optical phenomenon responsible for the star sapphire's fascinating rays is called asterism from the Latin word astrum or "star". Asterism is caused by small needle-like inclusions of the mineral rutile. In the case of the black star sapphire, the inclusions are black hematite, hence also the very dark almost charcoal coal of the stone itself. Rather different to your expect blue sapphire! This fascinating gemstone (it's a whopping 1,104 carats) has been solidly set in a raised circular setting of 9 carat yellow gold. This in turn is framed by a circle of white 9 carat gold into which 10 X 1mm brilliant certified Africa mined diamonds have been set. The entire ring is 4 grams and has a distinctly solid feel to it. The ring is English 9ct gold hallmarked, shows the Birmingham Assay office and the date mark for 2007. If you like to know the energies attached to stones, the black star sapphire is known as the gemstone for deflecting negativity!
There is a world of difference between a "black sapphire" and a "black star sapphire", the latter being both prized and normally more expensive. The ring comes with a little gemologist certificate of origin and authentication and I have also had it checked and accredited by an independent jeweller. His certificate, with the evaluation of R18'098 will be sent with the ring. The ring comes boxes in the quality ring box photographed above.
