Three-point Webbing chin strap is intact with securing buckle system. Manufacturer markings & Date are present on Helmet Dome.

An EXCELLENT example of Border War, 1960s SADF Parachute Battalion Steel Helmet ' Springdak' w/ Camouflage Netting. This piece appears to be in a VF state , with detailed Green Camouflage Paint Relief on obverse and reverse. All fittings appear present. Hessian Camouflage Netting is intact with some degree of age-related surface wear. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. It can be NOTED- one or two small indentations may be present on Helmet shell. Three-point Webbing chin-strap system with buckle is present and functional.
Internal Plastic Helmet Liner System is evident with all suspension parts appearing complete. Serviceman's Force Number has been inscribed and is legible. Manufacturer Dome Stamp has been stenciled in white.
This piece would have been issued to SADF Parachute Battalion ( Airborne) Soldiers - who would have required the stability of the 'Parachutists' variant for high-altitude jumps during Operational deployment in SWA/Angola.
