An EXCELLENT example of a RARE Border War, 1980s SA Medical Service Command Sergeant-Major Lucite & Metal Collar Badge. This piece appears to be in a VF state , with detailed Graphic Relief on  obverse. All insignia present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. All retention Pins and stoppers are evident.

This piece would have been utilised by the Command Sergeant-Major of the South African Medical Service- alongside the rank specific cap badge. This Insignia set differed from the standard SAMS issue  - being specialized to denote the wearer as a Senior Sergeant-Major.
