An EXCELLENT example of Border War, Pre-1979 South African Medical Corps Beret / Cap Badge with Enamel Inlay. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state of preservation , with detailed Graphic Relief on  obverse. All insignia present. Enamel inlay is intact , smooth in appearance (no crazing). Appropriate Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Retention posts are complete. 

This item would have been utilised as the primary identifying insignia ; for members of the SA Medical Corps prior to 1979. The rationalization measures of that year , established the SA Medical Service as a independent branch of the South African Defence Force.
