The piece is in an GOOD, USED CONDITION- Military Regimental Stable Belt Buckle Graphic Design Relief is present and detailed.Insignia/ Symbology remains clear & defined. Item appears in a Good State and has been subject to handling/utilisation. All Metallic fittings are present & appear complete in configuration. Belt Plate/ Buckle retains catch fittings that correspond with the integrated Clasp & Keeper. Appropriate Signs of Wear evident w/ piece retaining original leather belt strap/ waist-band, however - suface toning/ variable discoloration may be noted. Leather appears supple and retains good structural integrity. Mild abrasions / distress markings may be noted due to frictional contact. Verdigris / mild contact rust may be visible on metallic components. All nomenclature is present and legible on Regimental Buckle. Hem-lines & machine stitching is intact and remains in good order. Item is Second-Hand.

An EXCELLENT example of a RARE, Border War Pre-1980 SADF 31 Battalion Leather Regimental Stable Belt w/ Unit Buckle (Type I). This piece appears to be in a VF state of preservation , with detailed Graphic Design Relief on Belt Plate/ Belt Buckle obverse. All insignia/ symbology present. Appropriate Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surfaces (both metallic & leather components). Regimental Stable Belt remains in a used , yet well-preserved state. Metallic Belt Plate with Lucite Unit Escutcheon remains complete (edge wear noted).  Metallic fittings will display a degree of surface toning / verdigris - whilst leather waistband may exhibit variable discoloration due to age / general handling. All Metallic components are present & appear complete in configuration. Belt Plate/ Buckle retains catch fittings, that correspond with the integrated Clasp & Keeper. Item displays good structural integrity - with Leather remaining supple & flexible. Mild abrasions/ distress markings may be noted- due to frictional contact. All Decorative elements are clear and defined with the distinctive 31 Battalion Unit 'Crow' Crest. Nomenclature is present and remains legible. Machine stitching and securing hem-lines appear intact. Item is Second-Hand.

This piece would have been issued to , and utilised by members of 31 Battalion- as part of their Nutria Fielddress Regimental Parade ensemble. The Unit was formed in 1974 - recruiting ethnic San soldiers from regions of Southern Angola. This Battalion provided expertise in long-distance combat tracking, as well as - performing Counter-Insurgency & Conventional Offensive operations, in conjunction with Reconnaissance support.
