TWO sterling silver thimbles commemorating the Royal Wedding of His Royal Highness Prince Charles, Prince of Wales to Lady Diana Spencer on 29th July 1981. Made by Ammonite Ltd, manufacturing jewellers of Llandow Industrial Estate, Glamorgan, Wales. Both thimbles are different, in excellent original condition and come with an Ammonite Ltd. Heritage Collection brown plush covered steel presentation case.
Left: The thimble on the left has two panels of C & D initials with ribbons and wedding bells, and a central panel depicting St Paul's Cathedral. Just above the rim is the inscription: CHARLES AND DIANA 29TH JULY 1981. Hallmarked: ALTD (for Ammonite Ltd), the Birmingham Assay Office anchor mark, the lion passant for sterling silver and the date letter script "G" for 1981. In excellent undamaged condition. Height approx. 2.5 cm; internal base diameter 1.7 cm; weight 2.9 grams.
Right: The thimble on the right is embossed twice with interlocking C & D initials separated by Prince of Wales feathers emblems. Just above the rim is the inscription: THE PRINCE AND PRINCESS OF WALES · JULY 1981. Hallmarked: ALTD (for Ammonite Ltd), the Birmingham Assay Office anchor mark, the lion passant for sterling silver and the date letter script "G" for 1981. In excellent undamaged condition. Height approx. 2.5 cm; internal base diameter 1.7 cm; weight 3.1 grams.
Condition: The thimbles are both in very good condition. The original presentation box is in very good condition.
