A small barrel cactus native to Southern Arizona in the upland Sonoran desert growing in full sun in rolling hills with other Sonoran cactus, grass and typical thorny brush. Not common it seems to grow in small colonies. Grow in full sun and fast draining soil. Echinomastus acunensis gets most of it water in the summer monsoon but flowers early in the spring after any winter rain.
