Very very rare and not often found.......Certainly valuable !!!!      Antique Cornish Pewter Hand Hammered Tea/Coffee Pot  W 1701  Made by James Dixon & Sons  Sheffield  England for Carmichael & Evans, Cape Town    In an excellent vintage condition   No dents or scratches    Clean Height : 190mm      This is a real masterpiece antique from approx the 1930's

James Dixon & Sons  was founded in 1806 in Sheffield and was one of the major British manufacturers in the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century   They were well known as manufactures of Pewterware.  They were also a world leader in manufacturing  shooting accessories through the 19th century.

They were well known as whistle makers, which like most of their products were of outstanding quality.  They were one the 4 great whistle makers

The firm continued to be a family run enterprise until 1976. The patterns are currently owned by another Sheffield firm who export products mainly to the Middle East
