Product details
A very rare custom-made Nazi SS trench dagger. The pommel of the handle is in the form of a bronze Nazi eagle's head and the grips are made of an animal material (bone or other). The cross-guard is darkened scallop-edged bronze. The leather scabbard is engraved with a "Totenkopf (death's head)", the symbol of the SS in Nazi Germany during WW2. Lower down there is an engraving of an eagle's head with the initials "HM" (I assume, the owner). The length of the scabbard is engraved with oak leaves - denoting a high-ranking SS officer. The back of the scabbard is engraved "DEUTSCHLAND UBER ALLES" and "HAND GEMAAK DEUR CH". Why this is in Afrikaans, I don't know but it certainly suggests a Southern African connection (SWA?).
