An EXCELLENT example of a RARE ,Early 1990s Framed & Signed Robert Curwen Oil on Board 'Foothills with Eucalyptus ' Painting. This piece appears to be in a VF state , with detailed Graphic Relief on obverse. All subject matter features are present and defined. Minimal Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Oil medium has been well-preserved, with a small degree of light exposure fading evident on lower panel corners. General pigmentation is in a good state - with colours throughout remaining vibrant. Painting has been securely Mounted and framed accordingly. Robert Curwen, was one of the many ' Rural ' based Artists of the mid to late 20th Century in South Africa. The Artist, originally born in Copenhagen , Denmark in 1929 - chose to immigrate to South Africa in 1968 and pursue his chosen career in creating artwork. A multitude of Curwen's paintings were inspired by his life centered within the Natal Midlands - often featuring many Natural settings and landscapes. The subject matter , focusing largely on local Topography such as Mountainscapes and Watercourses. This Artist, was most well-known for his use of the Oil on board medium and high level of dexterity in accurately capturing imagery.
