An EXCELLENT example of a RARE- Early 1990s SA Special Task Force Type I Operator Breast Badge w/ Pins.This piece appears to be in a VF/VF+ state of preservation , with detailed Graphic Design Relief on obverse and reverse. All insignia/ symbology present. Appropriate Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surfaces. Item remains in a used , yet well-preserved state. Metallic Operator Badge retains a good lustre , with a degree of surface toning / variable discoloration due to bi-metal plating & base metal composition. Piece displays good structural integrity with the Badge Front Panel, Retention Pins & Brass Stoppers present & all well integrated. All Decorative elements are clear and defined with the distinctive wreathed Peregrine Falcon, Gladius, & Trident Crest present. Nomenclature is present and remains legible. Recipient Issue Number / Award marking is evident on insignia reverse.

The insignia was issued from 1992 until 1995 - to Qualified Unit Operators who had performed 18+ months of operational service. This Breast Badge can be identified by the Right-facing Peregrine Falcon ; with the Post-1995 iteration featuring the Falcon in a Left-facing orientation. The First Type Qualification Badges , were all Numbered to Recipients - with a total of only 100 awarded of this particular variant.
