A beautiful vintage African design oxidized large brooch made by renowned silversmith and goldsmith Birger Haglund. Haglund has Swedish origins, however in his years he operated in Johannesburg for only four years, between 1948-1952, and this created in today's collector's market a very limited number of pieces seen, and for sale. Haglund was born, trained and worked in Sweden. He later spent time in South Africa, where he also produced jewelry. Some of his pieces are marked Sweden or South Africa but some do not indicate the origin. This piece is marked Haglund and Sterling Silver South Africa accordingly - see photos for details on this Amazing Piece.
