LUXARDO CHERRY (1821-present): Luxardo was founded in 1821 by Girolamo Luxardo in the city of Zadar, in Croatia. His wife (Maria Canevari) produced liqueurs at home, specializing in "rosolio maraschino", a liquor from Croatia and Luxardo soon founded the distillery to produce Liquore Maraschino. Within eight years of existence, the Luxardo Maraschino was recognized a superior product by the Emperor. By 1839, the Luxardo Maraschino was consumed in overseas countries. Girolamo Luxardo died in 1865 at age 81, and his son Nicolò took over the business. In 1913 a new distillery was built by Michelangelo Luxardo, who was of the third generation of Luxardos. The distillery was one of the largest in the Austro-Hungarian Empire (which at that time included Croatia) and maybe even the largest distillery in Europe at the time.. The Luxardo distillery was almost completely destroyed by Allied bombings during the second World War. In 1944, at the end of Nazi German occupation, the city was liberated by Yugoslav partisans and later integrated into Yogoslavia at the end of the war. Pietro Luxardo, Nicolò II and his wife were killed by Totos forces. After the war Giorgio Luxardo fled to Italy with a sapling of marasca cherry tree and an original Maraschino recipe. Giorgio later moved to Padova in the Veneto region of Italy, where he built a new distillery and continued the family's and firm's activities. The sixth generation of the family is still active in the operations of the company, including: Piero Luxardo, Franco Luxardo, Guido Luxardo, Matteo Luxardo, Filippo Luxardo and Giorgio Luxardo.
GEBRUDER HAUSER CLOCKS (1923-1998): The Gebrüder Hauser clock factory (Die Uhrenfabrik Gebrüder Hauser) was founded in 1923 by Otto and Josef Hauser in Weigheim, Germany. Josef Hauser resigned in 1926 and moved on to form his own company. The company name Gebrüder Hauser then received an additional owner, Otto Hauser. Aside from alarm clocks, clocks with pendulums and chess clock works were produced. In 1951, the son, Eduard Hauser joined the company. From 1955 onward small affordable alarm clocks and chess clockworks were manufactured. The clock movement were marketed under several names one of which being Mercedes. In 1965 Norbert Hauser joined the company and the company name was changed to KG. The Gebrüder Hauser KG clock factory in Weigheim was eventually closed on 31 July 1998.
LUXARDO CHERRY LIQUER: Luxardo Ardo Cherry with 18% alcohol is a liqueur, not a wine or traditional liquor. Liqueurs are spirits flavored with fruit, herbs, or other ingredients and are generally mixed with sugar and other elements to create their final taste profile, as is the case with Luxardo. Luxardo's process involves macerating cherries in alcohol for several months, then distilling the spirit. The cherry spirit is then mixed with sugar and water and aged, which are all characteristics of a liqueur.Luxardo is a well-known brand of liqueurs, with their cherry liquers being among their most famous products.
