An EXCELLENT example of a RARE, Greek Seleucid Alexander Zabinas II Bronze Coin ( Syria). This piece appears to be in a Fair / Very Good state of preservation, with details of Graphic Relief on obverse remaining defined, and a degree of wear notable on reverse. All Greek nomenclature present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Areas of high Relief- will display some smoothing- due to circulation. Coin appears in a well-preserved condition in spite of age. Planchet is complete with a small degree of edge wear.
This piece would have been issued for circulation during the Reign of the Seleucid Greek Ruler - Alexander Zabinas II. A contender to rule the Seleucid Territories - this individual would have been either fully or partially descended from Seleucus Nicator. The realm was located in Modern-day Syria , known as the Orontes Kingdom and the Coin would have been utilised during the series of Seleucid Succession Wars.
