The first (and only) edition of this book - one of only two books written by Irma Stern herself (the other being Congo). Both are scarce and sought after limited editions.

This edition of Zanzibar is one of the 350 copies of the regular edition, although not numbered. (There were also 150 de-luxe signed copies). In the original grey/beige cloth with a pictorial onlay of a Zanzibar door on the front board. With tipped in and in-text monochrome illustrations of Stern's paintings and drawings. A very good plus clean tight unmarked copy.

Irma Stern's popularity as a collectable artist has skyrocketed in recent years. At auction, records for the sale of her works have been broken time and again, with the latest recorded prices at auction being: "Two Arabs" - R21-million, "Bahora Girl"- R40,7 million; "Seated Nude with Oranges" - R29 million, "Arab Priest"- R52,3 million!

Stern’s Zanzibari works are amongst her most sought-after.
