A RARE LAUREL & HARDY SLEAPING ON BENCH FIGURINE. MADE OF RESIN BUT CLEARLY HAND PAINTED STROKES VISIBLE. STAN LAUREL IS ASLEEP LEADING UP TO THE FULL FIGURE OF OLIVER HARDY. OLIVER HS HIS LEG RESTING ON THEIR TRAVEL BAG AND HIS HAND RESTING ON THE BENCH.
 
THESE LAUREL & HARDY FIGURINES DATES FROM THE MID TWENTIETH CENTURY AND ARE VERY COLLECTABLE AND RATHER RARE TO FIND NOWADAYS. NOTE I HAVE ANOTHER LAUREL AND HARDY FIGURINE WHERE THEY ARE READING A BOOK TOGETHER ON A BENCH ON AUCTION THIS WEEK.

LAUREL & HARDY:
Laurel and Hardy were a British-American comedy duo act during the early Classical Hollywood era of American cinema, consisting of Englishman Stan Laurel and American Oliver Hardy.
Stan Laurel (June 16, 1890 February 23, 1965) was born Arthur Stanley Jefferson in Lancashire, England, into a theatrical family.Oliver Hardy (January 18, 1892 August 7, 1957) was born Norvell Hardy in Harlem Georgia United States.
Starting their career as a duo in the silent film era, they later successfully transitioned to "talkies".
The humor of Laurel and Hardy was highly visual with slapstick (a type of physical comedy characterized by broad humour, absurd situations, and vigorous, usually violent action.) used for emphasis They often had physical arguments (in character) which were quite complex and involved a cartoonish style of violence. Their ineptitude and misfortune precluded them from making any real progress, even in the simplest endeavors. Much of their comedy involves "milking" a joke, where a simple idea provides a basis for multiple, ongoing gags without following a defined narrative.
Hardy would act as if he were cross and would try and teach Laurel how to do things properly which usually meant doing things the wrong way! In real life, they became the closest of friends. Unusually, even amongst good friends, they never argued over anything, not about each other's screen time or money.
