Christine Marais lived in Namibia from 35 years until her death at the age of 77 in 2012. During this time she turned out to be one of the best known Namibian artists and contributed enormously to the public’s appreciation and understanding of the natural history of Namibia through her art and illustrations.
On auction is a painting from a period where she only used to use a paint roller to render her artworks, and this is an evocative depiction in black and white with African theme of a lady carrying sticks. Signed at the bottom right and dated 1975. See photos for details. Unframed.
Dimensions: 42,5 cm x 21,5 cm.
