An EXCELLENT example of Pre-World War I , 1910 ' Imperial Shield Challenge' Bronze Shooting Medallion w/ Case. This piece appears to be in a VF+ state of preservation , with detailed Graphic Relief on obverse and reverse. All insignia present. Minimal Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. A appropriate degree of surface toning, will be noted on Medallion. The piece presents well - with defined features. NOTE: A small bruise / indentation is visible on lower portion of planchet.
Original issue case, retains all parts- along with blue silk lining and brass securing catch mechanism. This piece would have been awarded to a successful participant in the 1910 Imperial Challenge Shield Shooting event- and was presented by R.W. Ffennell acting as the Honorary Colonel of the Witwatersrand Rifles.
