An EXCELLENT example of a Roman Gaul ' Barbarian Period' Billon Silver Coin w/ Termination. This piece appears to be in a Fair to  preserved  state , with partially obscured detailed Relief on  obverse and reverse ( varying clarity). Planchet is present , yet remains in a poor condition. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. This Coin , appears to have been issued during a tumultuous period in the history of the Western Roman Empire. This piece was obtained as a result of excavation , and has been exposed to varying elements for over a millennium.

The composition is Billon Silver , containing a blend of 10 % - 30 % Silver and remaining Base Metal Alloys. A low precious metal Content is indicative of the economic decline experienced in regions such as Gaul - due to political & social instability. The piece features a terminal/ hollow section applied for the manufacture of Jewellery- possibly Hunnic or Gothic in origin ( both groups being present in the Empire due to invasion).

The ideal addition to any Late Roman ' Barbarian Invasion ' Era Silver Coin collection or display- for the enthusiast seeking a unique period piece for their assortment.
