Rare Rosenthal Pregnant Louise vase decorated with Lovers by Raymond Peynet circa 1956

Offered for sale is a rare and highly collectible small Rosenthal vase in the Pregant Louise shape, decorared with a transfer printed and hand painted design by the French artist, cartoonist and illustrator Raymond Peynet ( died 1999). The shape of the vase was designed by F Heidenreich for Rosenthal in the 1940's. The vase was initially issued in monochrome pastel coloured glazes and black and subsequently in the 1950's issued with decorated designs form the seriesware catalogue. This design depicts a pair of lovers from the Lovers series illustrastions by Raymond Peynet a world famous Parisian illustrator and cartoonist. His work is hugely collectible in France and Japan especially where the spindly figures and quirky details have earned him a growing base of adulation and fans. There are 2x museums in France dedicated to his designs one in Antibe and one in Brassac Les Mines. Japan also has 2x museums of artworks by Raymond Peynet. As a price comparison similar examples selling on Ebay, Etsy and  European auction listings priced around 120 US dollars. Base os the vase is marked Rosenthal Germany Selb with hand painted numerical code for the shape/pattern .
