This is an original handpainted RAF Squadron 12 wall plaque. It has not been cleaned. It shows the post-1953 queen's crown.
Squadron 12 ("Shiney 12") was formed in 1915. In 1926, Squadron 12 was the only squadron that flew the Fairey Fox, which was faster than the standard RAF fighters. The fox was therefore incorporated into the squadron badge.
