Handle and securing mortise are complete , appearing to function when engaged. Manufacturer markings evident on handle spine. Scabbard & Leather retention frog are intact. Item is Second-Hand.

An EXCELLENT example of Border War Era,  1960s SA Forces Type B FN FAL Steel Bayonet w/ Scabbard & Retention Frog. This piece appears to be in a VF state of preservation , with detailed fittings on  obverse and reverse. Blade is present with original finish and retains a cutting edge . Appropriate Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Securing mortise is complete and appears to function when engaged. Steel grip-scales have been securely mounted & ricasso is intact. Leather retention frog retains good structural integrity. 

This piece would have been constructed from steel ( blade, handle & mortise) by Lyttleton Engineering Works during the mid - to late 1960s. The Type B variant was utilised by members of the Internal Security Forces within the Republic & for Border Duty with the R1 Battle Rifle.
