This piece appears to be in a VF+  state of preservation  , with detailed Relief on  obverse and reverse All insignia present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Toning may be noted. Ribbon is complete w/ Service Bars. 

This piece would have been issued for 3 x Tours of Duty in the Operational Area of SWA / Rhodesia. The award was instituted in 1974 - in order to recognize Service by SA personnel beyond the Borders of the Republic. Eligibility for the Medal was retroactive to include prior service from 1967 onward.
