An EXCELLENT example of a RARE, SA Medical Service - 7 Medical Battalion 'Special Forces' Medic Operator Commemorative Medallion (Numbered). This piece appears to be in a XF+ state of preservation, with detailed Relief on obverse and reverse. All insignia present. Minimal Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. All bi-metal surface finish & associated inlay, remain intact and display good pigmentation. Surface finish is lustrous and Medallion has been encapsulated.
This piece is clearly Numbered- and is part of a limited edition , production that was privately commissioned by former members of 7 Medical Battalion Group.
Operators from 7 Medical Battalion- were qualified as SAMS Combat Medics , prior to successfully completing the SADF Special Forces selection course. These members would accompany the 'Recces' on all nature of both sanctioned & clandestine military operations.
