MAGNIFICENT & SCARCE SHELLEY
TEA TRIO
Pattern – Black Garland of Flowers 11504
Registration No. 723404
THE SHELLEY STAMP DATES TO 1925 - 1945 = MADE IN ENGLAND
This is one of the earliest of the Shelley designs to be applied to the iconic Queen Anne shape, dating from October 1926. The Queen Anne shape was registered in August 1926, only 3 months before the introduction of pattern 11504, "Garland of flowers". This is the black print on white ground, original design, and it was followed by coloured ground variants.
Very elegant and sophisticated, the black on white gives a real Art Deco feel to the design, especially with the enamelled black rims and handle to the cup.
85 years old!
The Queen Anne Shape is octagonal with hanging flower baskets and edges in black.
