    Major Charles Norman Hoy, who had been a squadron commander in the Natal Carbineers, became Second in Command of the  1st CAPE CORPS (1915-1919) Cape Town 1915.  The book by CAPTAIN Ivor D. DIFFORD. Quartermaster, 1st Cape Corps, 1915-1919  with title  -THE STORY OF THE 1st CAPE CORPS (1915-1919)- confirm  the role Major Charles Norman Hoy played in the efforts of the Allied forces in Africa.  (http://www.archive.org/stream/storyof1stbattal00diffuoft/storyof1stbattal00diffuoft_djvu.txt)  The 1st CAPE CORPS  were deployed into Africa near Moshi where they helped General JC Smuts (March 1915) nearby his headquarters in Old Moshi  at the old slave trading and mission station 1,500 feet above the plain on the slopes of Kilimanjaro.  During his service in Africa,  Major Charles Norman Hoy assumed temporary command of the battalion on various occasions.
