THIS beautiful and most rare South African Railways (SAR not SAR&H) tea pot is stamped: Catering Department SAR in a circular logo on the side. It is A1 silver soldered (silver plated) and manufactured by Walker & Hall, Sheffield, England. The manufacturer's date figure at the base indicates to me that it was made between 1913 and 1915. Note though I am not an expert in English silver and this date is unconfirmed. However, as can be seen from the design, it is extremely old and possibly dates from virtually the inception of the old South African Railways in 1910.

The height of the tea pot is 95mm.This rare piece of Africana is being offered in its present condition which, unsurprisingly, shows wear with dings and small dents. It has not been reconditioned in any manner whatsoever.

A true collector's piece, this valuable item will be sold to the highest bidder without reserve.
