Here we have a truly rare item of Border war history - a SWA pattern 83 chest webbing in SADF nutria brown styled for R1/ G3 (7,62mm) magazines.
The nutria seems a little darker in keeping with the earlier SWA pattern 83 type 1 vests.
I believe that this is a SWA pattern 83 chest webbing designed to carry 6 mags for a R1 or G3.
In issued condition with user force number, rank and name written on the webbing, including a SWA force number!
Probably issued to and used by a member of the SWASPES unit, 101 Bn, 201 Bn (Bushmen) or even one of the 911 Bn Romeo Mike companies!
In good used condition, all pouches and stitching and buckles are intact and no visible damage. Note the size of the main front mag pouches which differ from the normal R4 size chest webbing, also the unique shape of the back-panel, with cutouts.
Please see photos for more detail!
Happy bidding!!!
