RARE VINTAGE 1950S ASAHI JAPANESE MANUFACTURED RED MAZDA TIN CAR 18,5CM LONG
A RARE VINTAGE 1955 ASAHI JAPANESE MADE RED MAZDA TIN CAR. THE FRONT AND BACK WHEELS STILL TURN BUT THE FRICTION MOTOR AT BACK (SEEMS THAT IT HAS ONE) DOES NOT WORK. IT STANDS 7CM TALL AND IS 18,5CM LONG.
EVERYTHING IS CLASSIC OLD SCHOOL JAPANESE TIN WITH COLOURFUL LITHOGRAPHED GRAPHICS AND ATC MARK ON BACK INSIDE. With a shaped red-painted body, enclosing a lithophane interior and Bakelite steering wheel, rubber covered wheels.
MARKINGS:
ATC (Asahi), Tokyo established 1940s, Santa figure trademark used from 1955 onwards.
Located in Tokyo, Japan, the Asahi Trading Company (ATC) aka Asahi Gangu Seisakusho was founded in 1948. In the lated 1940s, they began making tinplate toys.
Asahi's "Model Pet" series of die-cast vehicles was introduced in 1959 as a range of model cars, trucks and motorcycles in 1:43 scale. They continued in production until about 1972.
At the end of the 1970s, they introduced a 1:55 scale series with opening doors, solid silver hubs wheels and well done striping details. Each casting came in a window box.
By 1979, they had ceased diecast operations and had become a part of the Casio computer group.
