Description: RARE Vintage Arabia Finland "Anemone" Sugar Bowl
Showcasing the iconic, deeply saturated cobalt blue "Anemone" pattern hand-painted on a signature grey-white stoneware base. Designed by ceramic pioneer Ulla Procopé, the heavy vitrified body features bold, fluid floral brushstrokes across the container body and a thick accent band running along the rim flange of the matching domed lid, all covered in a high-gloss glaze that reflects ambient room lighting beautifully. The structural circular form features a robust, integrated loop handle on the lid, demonstrating premier Scandinavian functionalism.
Arabia Finland's "Anemone" series stands as a globally recognized benchmark of mid-century Scandinavian studio pottery, celebrating the integration of thick, robust stoneware with hand-applied artisanal detailing. The distinctive glaze application involved paint-decoration directly onto unglazed bisqueware before applying a protective clear overglaze, creating a permanent, scratch-proof layer that locks in the deep iron-and-cobalt blue pigmentation.
Features the authentic hand-painted underglaze signature "ARABIA MADE IN FINLAND" in deep indigo script on the unglazed base ring.
Made in Finland, circa 1962-1974, making this stoneware sugar bowl 52+ years old.

Because every piece in the iconic Arabia Finland "Anemone" collection was painted completely by hand in the Helsinki studios, no two brushstrokes are identical. Master glaze decorators used thick ox-hair brushes to sweep the concentrated cobalt across the spinning pottery wheels, resulting in small, beautiful natural variations in transparency and depth that allow discerning collectors to trace the unique touch of the individual artisan.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition.
Visible Flaws: The interior and exterior surfaces are exceptionally clean with zero post-production usage scratches, cloudiness, or grey metal utensil marks, indicating this piece remained beautifully preserved. The lid flange, upper rim, and base ring show no flea bites, chips, fractures, or cracks. The raw, unglazed bottom foot ring displays mild, age-appropriate storage shelf dust tracking from genuine age.
