Description
The Moorish Gateway Series Ware consisted of 24 scenes designed by H Allen. The series, originally called Tunis, was introduced in 1912. In 1926 the Tunis characters were set in a relief background and the series was renamed "Moorish Gateway". These scenes were an applied transfer and then hand painted to give the colour and the background.
This trio dates from c 1930 and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, staining or repairs and there is no colour loss.
There is some typical age related crazing on the saucer.
The saucer measures 140 mm in diameter and the cup measures 75 mm across the rim and stands 65 mm high. The plate has an impressed 5 - 29 mark dating it to May 1929 and measures 150 mm square.
