The handle depicts two Lur (bronze age trumpet) players standing on a plinth. (see below for more detail)

Axel Prip's Skefabrik: Copenhagen, Denmark: founded 1924, by Axel Prip (b. 1864-d.1925) as a successor to Kobenhavens Skevabrik (Copenhagen Spoon Factory). Prip was still in business as of 1956.  Axel's grandson, John Prip, the famous Danish / American silversmith apprenticed here from the age of 15. (from 925-1000.com
Lur: The Bronze Age of the Teutonic tribes yielded the mysterious lur. Little is known of the purpose of this instrument excavated in pairs from the moors of Sweden, Denmark, North Germany, and Ireland. They were cast in brass and demonstrate remarkable craftsmanship.
