Vintage and rare Stanley No. 100 Miter Machine with large Disston Warranted Superior Mitre Saw for professional framing. In the description below, dimensions are reflected in inches.
This Mitre Machine style / design was developed and originally manufactured by the Marsh Tool Company, which Stanley bought out in 1926. With this machine a mitered joint can be cut, glued and nailed to make tight, close fitting corners. Mouldings of up to 4" in width can be sawn and any frame 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" or larger can be clamped.
The Mitre Frame is made of cast iron that is bolted onto abase that allows for 360 degree rotation and tilting. The base can be anchored to a workbench with 5 anchor bolts. It is in very good and complete condition with the 2 low adjustable clamping blocks and 2 saw holding posts (elevators) with roller bearings that assist with the smooth operation of the saw. The frame and base has had only a basic clean up.
The saw that is furnished appears to be the original that was sold with the Stanley 100 when new. It is a Disston Warranted Superior saw. Stanley had many of the saws made for this Mitre Machine by Disston and they needed a blade width of 4 inches and a length of at least 23 inches. This saw measures 29 1/8 x 4 7/8 (overall); 23 ½ x 4 (blade). The saw has been cleaned and the handle sanded and shellaced.
