Rare Vintage Stanley Whyte Scottish Shortbread Mould.

An authentic, large-format wooden shortbread press handcrafted by Stanley Whyte in Pathhead, Scotland. A beautiful piece of Scottish kitchen heritage. This vintage wooden mold features a deeply carved, traditional thistle emblem and classic sunray fluting. It retains the original maker's gold foil seal on the reverse, confirming its quality and Midlothian origin.

This vintage piece from the 1980s1990s features a deep, hand-carved thistle emblemthe national symbol of Scotland.

Details of the Maker:
Location: Pathhead is a historic village in Midlothian, Scotland, known for its traditional craft heritage. Craftsmanship: Stanley Whyte products were traditionally handcrafted from wood (often beech or sycamore) and are highly regarded for their durability and authentic Scottish designs. Modern Status: While vintage Stanley Whyte moulds are frequently found on collector sites like Etsy and eBay, the specific "Stanley Whyte Product" labels are hallmark identifiers for pieces made during that 80s/90s window.

Why this piece is special:
Size: Impressive 22cm diameter (Rare "Large Format" size, perfect for full-sized shortbread rounds). Known as a "full-sized" family mould, this piece is significantly rarer than the common 1015cm souvenir versions. The original maker's label is still intact on the reverse, confirming its pedigree.

Original Use: A stunning decorative piece of functional kitchen tool for any serious baker wanting to create professional-grade, heritage shortbread. Alternate Suggested Use: A stunning decorative piece for a farmhouse kitchen.

Made in Scotland, 1980s-1990s.

Visible Flaws: Excellent structural condition with a rich, authentic patina. The wood shows honest signs of a "well-loved" life in a traditional kitchen, adding to its vintage character and charm.

Please view images for full condition, images from part of the description. I do not accept returns, and I do not offer Refunds, I clearly list flaws, as a buyer you are open to ask questions and you must ensure you have viewed the full condition of the item, before you purchase it. Photos are enlarged and lighting is enhanced to provide the best view of the listed item. Use of a ruler is recommended to familiarize yourself with the size. Your purchase is your confirmation that you agree with the condition and size of the item.

Approximate Dimensions: Diameter 22cm, Height 2.5cm.

Price: R850.00.

Why the Price is Justified:
a) The Size Premium: A 22cm mold allows for a traditional "shortbread round" (cut into wedges or "petticoat tails"). Most online listings for Stanley Whyte moulds are for the smaller 16cm (approx. 6") versions, which typically sell for R 400 R 550.
b) Maker Rarity: Stanley Whyte is a recognized name among "treen" (small wooden household item) collectors. Having the original sticker intact on the back is a major plus for collectors, as it provides provenance.
c) Local Availability: While you might find these for slightly less on UK eBay, the cost of international shipping and import duties to South Africa would easily push the total price over R 900. Selling locally at R 850 offers a fair deal for a rare, high-quality import.

This item pairs well with the following Listings in my Shop
1. Listing 080-January-2026 (Large Vintage J&I Crichton Thistle Shortbread Mould)
2. Listing 048-February-2026 (Vintage Mooncake Biscuit Mould)

Every effort is made to ship items daily, where possible. I do not ship on weekends and public holidays.
