Offered for sale is a rare and highly collectible William Moorcroft miniature vase in the Pomegranate pattern dating to approximately 1928-1935. The vase has an elegant traditional baluster  shape with a high shouldered form, slightly flaring neck tapering to a narrow base  with a  round footring. The vase has the early William Moorcroft  facsimile  flash signature in blue on the base with the Royal Warrant mark  and the  Made in England stamp for export items which was introduced in 1918. The early Moorcroft pieces are effectively hand made studio pieces with  tube-lining ,  or slip trail decoration which is hand applied and which outlines the forms of the pomegranate fruit, berries  and leaves. The flambe  glazing is vibrant and subtly shaded adding to the visual appeal  of the vase with a rich palette of ochre, olive green, moss green, dark  mulberry red and a reddish orange and rose  colour for the pomegrate fruit . Height 9 cm ; width measured at the shoulder of the vase 6 cm ; width of the base 4.5 cm ; width of the top aperture 4 cm.

William Moorcroft founded his own pottery manufactory in 1913 in Cobridge Burslem England with funding from the famous Liberty Retail Store  having previously worked for James MacIntyre and Co . He achieved numerous accolades for his beautiful designs and the fine workmanship of his ceramics including a Royal Warrant in 1928  whereafter Moorcroft pottery  ceramic pieces were marked Potter to HM the Queen (Queen Mary )
