An EXCELLENT example of World War I ,  S1898 German 'Quillback' neuer Art Bayonet . This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with Blade intact , retaining a sharp edge. All grip-scales present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Blade tip is complete, mortise functional when engaged. All manufacturer, date of production and Unit markings evident. NO SCABBARD. 

The Seitengewher 1898 Model Sword Bayonet was issued in 2 known variations. This piece represents the second type / neuer Art with two-piece wooden grip-scales. The distinctive long Blade is reminiscent of a quillback in its features- often known to have bent / snapped in Combat.
