Leather remains supple & appears durable- however - please handle with care , as certain segments may be delicate. All Metallic fittings/ buckles & retention tabs appear present. Stitching is good, please note a degree of wear may be noted in small areas throughout. Retention press Studs are intact and appear to function when engaged. Year of manufacture Stamp is legible on waistband. Equipment has been subject to varied combat conditions. Item is Second-Hand.

An EXCELLENT example of a RARE, WW1 German Schütztruppe East Africa 3rd Pattern Leather Bandolier Equipment Set. This piece appears to be in a VF+ state of preservation , with detailed fittings & Leather Ammunition Pouches on obverse. All adjustment buckles and securing press Studs appear present. Appropriate Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Item remains used / issued & will display wear from general handling / environmental exposure. General construction of Assemblage appears to be in good order. NOTE : A period conducted augmentation appears to have occurred - the Right-facing shoulder harness , having the 12th Ammunition pouch removed for ease of movement. This alteration has been subject to re-stitching by the original owner in the identical style & manner.
The Bandolier Equipment, thus only retains 11 of the original 12 standard Ammunition Pouches. Primary waist-band buckle is present , with integral KS98 Bayonet retention frog and Canteen suspension Brass C - Ring remaining intact. This particular piece - is representative of the 3rd Pattern ' Patronengürtel Mit Schultertrageriemen ' as issued to Imperial German Forces in Colonial Service.
The item , is a RARE variant as utilised by Schütztruppe stationed in East Africa ( Kamerun & Urundi ) - and can be identified by the distinctive crossed semi-horizontal fastening shoulder harness configuration. This system therefore, differed slightly to other 3rd Pattern Equipment Sets issued for German South-West African Forces. The D.O.A ( Deutsch-Ostafrika) Bandolier Equipment would have been utilised by both European & Askari Troopers during the suppression of the 1905 - 1906 Maji-Maji Rebellion.
