A rare WW1 barrel cork plug assembly for the iconic Vickers machine gun. 

Stamped with the military broad arrow and "M" (I assume the maker's mark). 

Every Vickers gun was supplied with a plug assembly to close the steam escape tube when the gun was not firing. The assembly consists of a brass spindle with ring handle, a chain and hooks to attach the assembly to the water jacket stud, a cork plug, and a brass collar to retain the cork on the spindle. Many Vickers parts kits and dummy guns are missing this assembly.
