An EXCELLENT example of a World War I / World War II - UDF 4th SA Infantry Regt. 'Murray of Athol' Tartan Service Kilt. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed Woven Graphic Relief on obverse and reverse. All buckles and leather fastener straps present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Wool materials are structurally sound - but will display a small degree of insect penetrations 'Moth Nips' in certain segments. The internal drill cotton lining remains intact- and will show some discolouration from sweat and associated secretions.
The Kilt, displays a good degree of pigment preservation - with only mild fading in exposed areas. Buckles have been re-attached at some point in the waistband.
An original 4th SA Infantry Cap Badge with a swatch of Tartan material- has been used to provide an accurate comparison regarding the item's authentication.
