Appropriate Signs of Wear evident due to handling. Steel Helmet shell is complete and structural integrity is good. Aluminum internal liner band is present & secured with split-pins. Leather liner is partially intact - with 65 % having expired due to age-related wear. Leather Chin-strap is NO LONGER PRESENT. All manufacturer markings and production lot numbers are evident and legible. Piece is Second-Hand.
ITEM HAS BEEN SUBJECT TO HANDLING/ VARIED COMBAT CONDITIONS. EXTERNAL EVIDENCE OF AGE-RELATED EXPOSURE IS NOTED.

An EXCELLENT example of RARE World War 2 , 1940s German M35 Double Decal ' Afrika Korps' Desert Camouflage Scheme Steel Helmet w/ partial liner. This piece appears to be in a VF + state of preservation , with detailed applied Camouflage Relief on obverse and reverse. This early , darker variant of the Tropical/ Desert pigmentation remains +/- 70 % intact. All insignia / National & Armed Forces Decals are present. The Tri-colour Shield has been exposed- yet the other Decal remains concealed. Appropriate Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface.
The original issue - Apple Green paint has been revealed in areas exposed to wear / environmental conditions. A aluminium liner band is still present with securing split-pins, however, only a small portion of the original Leather pig-skin liner remains. The other portion appears to have expired due to age-related wear. Retention chin-strap is no longer present. Manufacturers marks for Sächsische Emallier und Stanzwerke A.G are visible on the helmet flange -as well as - issue Lot Number.
This piece would have been utilised by a member of the Deutsche Afrikakorps - after formation in January 1941. The Armed Forces comprising this outfit , served from March 1941 - May 1943 ; led by General Erwin Römmel ( Wüstenfuchs) in support of the Italian Army and Air Forces in North Africa. The Helmet would possibly have seen action during the engagements at Tobruk , El Alamein, Gazala & Benghazi as part of ' Panzer Armee Afrika'.
