An EXCELLENT example of a World War II , South African Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve .800 Silver 1929 Florin Identity Disc / Dog-Tag. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed Planchet Relief on  obverse and reverse. All inscribed nomenclature is present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Recipient details have been clearly stamped in Latin script & remain legible. The Coin / Disc has been subject to double-termination ( on either side) to make provision for suspension upon a chain or chord. 

This unique piece, is a noted example of a privately assembled Identity Disc - commissioned by a Royal Navy Sailor in the SA Reserves. The item would have been utilised by the original owner for personal identification purposes during the conflict.
