RARE: WWI M1916 German Battle Damaged Steel Helmet Shell in Relic State ( 66/68)

The piece is in an GOOD, USED CONDITION - Steel Helmet Shell is present and appears in a stable Relic State.Item remains in a preserved condition and has been utilised. Signs of Wear evident due to handling. Piece has been subject to excavation from interment ( buried for an extended period of time). Surface rust and discoloration will be visible. No liner present- Helmet Shell only !  Battle Damage is visible, with shrapnel penetration area at frontal segment. 

ITEM HAS BEEN SUBJECT TO HANDLING/ EXPOSURE TO VARIED COMBAT CONDITIONS- AND HAS BEEN EXCAVATED. 

PIECE IS OVER 100 YEARS OLD - HAVING BEEN UTILISED AND BATTLE DAMAGED IN COMBAT.

An EXCELLENT example of World War I ,  German M1916 Stahlhelm Battle Damaged Steel Helmet Shell w/ M1910 retention bale. This piece appears to be in a well-preserved Relic state , with detailed features of the distinctive rolled edge Rim and twin retention / ventilation lugs for the ' Stirnpanzer ' armoured plate. Liner is NO LONGER present. Appropriate Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Rust and general verdigris will be noted - piece has been  excavated from the ground. 

The Helmet , displays the remnant of a M1910 Chin-strap retention bale from the previous liner system. Battle damage is evident- with a centralized shrapnel penetration hole at the forefront of the Shell - this has resulted in a internal dimple appearing within the crown or dome of the Helmet. The original wearer - at time of the incident would have expired due to injury severity.
