This listing is for an original, vintage 1967 Second Preferred Stock certificate issued by the historic Reading Company, widely known as one of the four iconic railroads featured in the classic Monopoly board game.
This specific document certifies that the financial brokerage firm De Coppet & Doremus was the owner of two shares. Formed in 1833, the Reading Railroad operated extensively across the Mid-Atlantic states until its operations were absorbed into Conrail in 1976.
The document is officially dated October 4, 1967, and features intricate engraving work, a decorative corporate vignette, and two prominent executive signatures.
The back of the certificate functions as the legal transfer document, which is hand-stamped and assigned to the historic New York investment banking firm Gruntal & Co. at 50 Broadway.
Please note that this item is being sold strictly as a second-hand historical collectible for scripophily, framing, or decorative purposes. It features circular punch-hole cancellations along the bottom edge, indicating it has been permanently cancelled by the transfer agent and holds no financial market equity or monetary trading value. The paper shows minor vintage aging and handling wear consistent with its age, but remains completely intact with sharp lettering and stamps.
Ruler is for scale only.
Size 30.5cm x 20.5cm.
