REAL AMETHYST AND BLUE SAPPHIRE MARQUISE-SHAPED STERLING SILVER RING. GORGEOUS COLOURS! 

What strikes you first about this remarkable piece is the colour combination - a myriad of purples within the central purple amethyst against dark blue sapphires contrasting with bright, sharp silver. The marquise-cut amethyst of a lovely purple hue is bezel set and beautifully faceted to maximise the sparkle and reflections within the gemstone. Surrounding the amethyst - and echoing the marquise shape - are 30 dark blue round cut sapphires, claw set in sterling silver. There are 2 tiers, one with 12 sapphires and the lower tier, 18 sapphires. The structure that supports the 12mm wide x 19mm long ring head has elongated claws, raising the ring head to a total of 8mm above the finger. A simple, solid shank supports the ring head and bears the 925 hallmark indicating sterling silver. It is vintage but not, I suspect, seriously old. A good solid 4,11 grams and at 19mm long, big enough to attract attention but not unwieldy to wear. Light buff marks but otherwise in good condition. Rather a pretty piece.
